Foreword
In honor of Pet Parent Day, which occurred on Sunday, April 24, I am playing the “horoscope veterinarian” this week so you can parent your pet better. Even if you don’t know your pet’s birthday, you can calculate their approximate age at a veterinarian, or make up a birthday that means something.

Aries: March 21-April 19
As the bringers of life, Aries pets are full of energy and eager to explore their surroundings. These creatures are stubborn, curious and active. Aries pets have a strong sense of leadership and will express their desires to you. They may even be the boss! Even when training is difficult, they remain devoted to their families.

Taurus: April 20-May 20
Taurus pets are steadfast, sensible and stern. Pets born under this sign are often robust and appreciative of comfort, such as the coziest place to lay down. They enjoy food and prefer routine over unpredictability. Taurus pets are determined to protect their house and family.

Gemini: May 21-June 21
Pets born under this sign are intelligent, entertaining and always on the go. They are curious about everything, but they are also pleasant and lively. Gemini pets enjoy playing with a variety of toys, as well.

Cancer: June 22-July 22
Cancer pets are sensitive, dedicated and obsessed with food. These creatures have a great bond with their owners and will lovingly watch over and defend them.

Leo: July 23-August 22
Leo pets desire to be leaders and have lots of energy. They have innate abilities such as agility and strength. They are stubborn towards their owners, protective of their dens and like being observed.

Virgo: August 23-September 22
These pets enjoy being productive and love getting groomed. Additionally, Virgo pets are clever, competent and simple to teach.

Libra: September 23-October 22
Libran pets have an insatiable need to connect with their surroundings and other animals. They often go out of their way to please their owners by following them around and sleeping close to them.

Scorpio: October 23-November 21
Pets born under this sign are stubborn and intelligent because they are the mightiest sign in the zodiac. They are also mischievous and have a voracious appetite for knowledge.

Sagittarius: November 22-December 21
Sagittarian pets are full of energy, enjoy a good challenge and crave independence and adventure. They also like moving around — and not only in the backyard — as these creatures prefer to accompany their owners on hikes and bike rides.

Capricorn: December 22-January 19
These pets are well-behaved, devoted and diligent. They also thrive on doing work and will help their owners zealously. Capricorn-born pets are often easy to train since they are seemingly always looking for something to do.

Aquarius: January 20-February 18
Pets born during this period are innovative and free-spirited and intelligent. They also have strong personalities and a powerful desire to stand out. They like roaming around and ignoring others, so don’t get discouraged if they act aloof towards you.

Pisces: February 19-March 20
Pisces pets are sensitive to their surroundings and should be trained gently. They are sympathetic, kind and tender. They also feel safer if they have their own “place,” which might be a cushion, bed, perch or rug. They are devoted and remain thoughtful of their owner’s feelings. Once they make a friend, it is for life. Pisces pets are also more snoopy than others, so keep a watch on them to avoid mishaps!

Keeping You Engaged
Astrologically, Capricorn was in conjunction on April 24 before the moon then made its way to Mars to visit Aquarius the following day. If you are a Capricorn human reading this, you are in good luck. Owners of Capricorn pets, please read this to your pets in a way for them to understand. They will feel loved.

Until next week,
